Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood Plan Album, Tour Together

On October 26, 2000, the second biggest American recording artist in history (behind only Elvis Presley) told a nationwide audience that he was retiring from recording and performing, choosing family over fame. Garth Brooks' only concession was that the retirement would last at least until his youngest daughter graduated high school.

While he didn't totally keep his promise, playing occasional benefits and a long residency in Las Vegas, his self imposed deadline will occur next year and, with family grown, Brooks will once again have time to devote to music. According to wife Trisha Yearwood, that includes a new album and tour together.

Yearwood was on CBS This Morning last week and said that their album, which has been on the board for almost twenty years, will finally happen as the pair enter the studio in the near future. She told CBS' Jeff Glor "It’ll be a whole different ball game, you know, as man and wife to go do this together. So I’m looking forward to it."

Trisha also revealed that she is working on her first solo album in six years along with a collaboration with Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson for an upcoming project by Clarkson. "We have become friends. And I love both of them. And we have been toying with the thought of working together. And Kelly’s working on a little something that we sang on."

Of course, Yearwood's main work in the last few years has been in the realm of cooking including two cookbooks which she has written with her mother and sister, Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen and Home Cooking with Trisha Yearwood.
