Osage County Sheriff's Office Investigates Suspicious Death In Fairfax

Osage County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspicious death Wednesday, July 17, Sheriff Eddie Virden said. A woman was found dead in a home near 4th and Park Street in Fairfax.

Deputies are holding back the identity of the woman and any possible suspect information as they investigate what Virden called a suspicious death.

Several neighbors in the area know the woman who lived in the house, and Wednesday morning, someone called police.

Fairfax Police and the Osage County Sheriff's Office worked through the day to search the house for evidence. They came out with several bags of evidence, and the medical examiner left with the body for an autopsy.

Deputies have some questions because the woman's car is not here. Neighbors Ricky and Cindy Puckett said they haven't seen her since Saturday.

"To find out she's in her house - who is so mean to do something like that?" Cindy Puckett said.

The woman's car is also not at the house, but the Sheriff's Office won't say if it might have been stolen by a suspect.

The neighbors said the house has been quiet since Saturday night.

"None of us heard anything, even as close as we are, we didn't hear anything. What brothers me is that it's so close to home," said neighbor Cindy Puckett. "I live right across the street from her, and it's awful I've got to worry about what's next."
