PODCAST: Rowdy's Radio Lineage

My cousin Adrienne shared an article from the Houston Chronicle about a new display at the Museum of The Gulf Coast exploring the seedier side of "The Golden Triangle" in Texas and how in 1960 a massive effort was undertaken to rid the towns of Beaumont, Pt. Arthur and Galveston of the corruption, prostitution, gambling and organized crime. It was inspired by a book called "Betting, Booze and Brothels." There to report it all was the future Texas Radio Hall of Famer, frequent fill-in for Paul Harvey and my Dad: Joe Holstead. Enjoy an audio clip of the man who would become "The Dean of Texas Radio News."
