24/7 Wall Street and USA Today has released their list of cities in every state where violent crime is rising fastest.  Unfortunately, Tulsa has the largest increase in Oklahoma.  While crime is on the decline nationally, Tulsa has seen a 4.2% increase over the past 5 years. The news isn't much better in other categories: violent crime percentage, 5-year trends and murder rate....Tulsa ranks among the 50 worst in the US in all categories.  In 2017 alone, 37% of all murders in Oklahoma occurred in Tulsa (90 out of 242).

Beyond violent crime, motor vehicle theft continues to be a major problem in Tulsa. Currently, we rank 21st in highest car theft rate.  We all know what a great city Tulsa is.  But sometimes with large growth comes new challenges with crime.  We'll be watching with great interest to see how the city's police address this rise.  Tulsa is a place we are proud to call home.  We can all help reduce crime by being watchful in our neighborhoods.
