Let's face it. Mom life is not for the faint of heart. Not only do we carry our lovable little parasites for 9 months, once they make their way into the world we then spend the next 2 decades or more trying to give them the best life we can. We love the little rugrats and wouldn't DREAM of life without them. However all too often we moms forget to take care of ourselves, constantly putting our own needs on the back burner while our families and jobs take center stage. It's a never ending cycle of work, school, activities, laundry and bedtime stories. Our pre-kid selves had the freedom to go and do as we pleased. And when we didn't feel like going out, we had our home to ourselves. Now we call our bestie from the bathroom, door locked and drink in hand, just to have 5 minutes in a day to feel like the girl we used to be.

Let me tell you something... THIS is how women end up drinking wine from a Pringles can in Wal-Mart or hiding in the dressing room at Target shotgunning a six pack of Stella Artois. While I don't agree with their choices, I think we can all relate to what these women are going through. The lengths we're willing to go to just to have an hour of alone time.

We have to do better. We HAVE to take care of ourselves, moms. Not only do our families deserve the best version of ourselves, WE deserve it.

So what is it that brings you peace? Is it a spa day? A good book in a hot bath?? A brunch day with the girls? 24 hours in your robe binging "Downtown Abby"??

Whatever it is, DO IT. And check on your friends. They need the reminder too.
